Needle-felted artwork and models

Pippa stumbled upon needle felting whilst experimenting with different mediums for her children's book on dyslexia 'Words Get Knotted'. Needle felting is 'dry' felting method where small barbed needles are used to mesh, shape and condense fibres.

Words Get Knotted was published by Bloomsbury and subsequently won an education award in the UK (BESA). Since successfully completing her Masters, Pippa has developed her needle felting skills travelling to Denmark to study under Danish Master felter Birgitte Krag Hansen. Pippa works with both carded wool and natural fleece to create models, artworks and prints which now are exhibited and sold internationally under the brand of Pippa Sweeney Designs.

Pippa lives at the foot of the Comeragh mountains in Co Waterford, Ireland and is inspired by nature, landscape and family life.
